About Carol Durkee
Louisiana natives and LSU college sweethearts Carol and Todd Durkee have made their home in The Woodlands since 1997. Throughout their 33 years of marriage, they have built a beautiful family, raising four children, Ross, Cole, Madison and Scott, all proud graduates of The Woodlands High School. Their children have driven much of Carol’s community involvement, beginning the moment she registered Ross for kindergarten, when she became the PTO secretary later that week. That position led her on a 22-year journey of leadership roles within various school PTOs, the National Charity League and the National Charity Roundtable. Through both NCL and NCR, Carol spent much of her time volunteering with her children at Interfaith of The Woodlands Food Pantry, Hand Me Up Shop, Veggie Village, Senior Meal Delivery, Serving Our Seniors, and the Hurricane Harvey relief efforts. Interfaith recognized her as a Five Who Share award honoree in 2013.
Having been active in the Junior League of Lafayette, LA before moving to The Woodlands, Carol transferred her membership to JLTW and went on to serve as President, Membership VP, Finance VP and founding committee member for Holiday Market. As a sustaining member, she has served as an advisor to the Board and several other committees, including Holiday Market.
With three of her children college graduates and her youngest preparing to begin his junior year at LSU, Carol reflects on the blessing of having the opportunity to serve the community that helped her raise her children. She has been able to share her experiences with other parents, giving them the confidence to know that no matter what challenging situation may be facing their child, giving them the support to follow their dreams and surrounding them with love will be all they need to overcome any hurdle that stands in their way.
